 In contrast to the depleted music playlists of commercial FM radio, XM satellite radio is broadcasting 67 channels of exceptionally high-quality programming. Through interviews with music programmers at XM radio and the sampling of XM's pop and jazz channels, I will explore the promise of this new medium. This study will also include a selected history of radio and discuss XM's place in it.
